The Way of the Cross Hill was founded in the first half of the 18th century at a time when the hill was almost bare.
Over the years anf centuries, however, it has grown completely and is currently a natural sanctuary. As the years passed, the Stations of the Cross were slowly forgotten. On the top of that the communist regime was not too inclined to faith. Individual stations lost their pictures, were broken dont of otherwise damged. The Cross Hill remained overgrown and inaccessible.
The turnover did not take place until 2017, when the Stations of the Cross were completely restored and renovated. All 14 granite memorials were refurbished. THe stone niches were wquipped with enamel pictures depicting the last faithful travel of Jesus Christ, his crucifixion and resurrection.
The following objects that were part of the Stations of the Cross were also restored - a hermitage ftom 1729, Holy Sepulchre, a natural well, and new three points of observation were created. The Stations were interlinked with walkways from natural material that respects the original trace. Today, you can walk the Way of the Cross comfortably and use the benches installed at the prospects to relax. A newly renovated forest natural trail follows the Way of the Cross.
